Learning to Endure
“Do you now believe?” Jesus replied.
“A time is coming and in
fact has come when you will be scattered, each to your own home.
You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may
have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I
have overcome the world.”
I am grateful that Jesus reminds me that I am to endure the
trials and struggles of my walk with Him. At times I have been faithful
to this and at other times I have wrestled with it. Whenever we
struggle, we lose!
Jacob wrestled with the Lord as well (Genesis 32-22-31).
Peter wrestled with the fact that he denied Jesus and faced
persecution and imprisonment (Acts 5:17, ff). Paul and Silas suffered

praises to God! Elijah, Job, Joseph, and Jeremiah all suffered and
endured. Are we better than these men?
Two things to consider this day:

2. Crises don’t make the person’s character, they only reveal
Listen to the words of Augustine, a 4th
“Hear, Lord, my prayer; let not my soul faint under Thy
discipline, nor let me faint in confessing unto Thee all Thy mercies,
whereby Thou hast drawn me out of all my most evil ways, that Thou
mightest become a delight to me above all the allurements which I
once pursued; that I may most entirely love Thee, and clasp Thy hand
with all my affections…”

God knows what about in your life…Jesus said, “Take heart,
be of good cheer, ….don’t worry, and …don’t be afraid. “ However
you want to say it the message is clear. He is in Control and you can
endure to the end. That’s where the winners are.
Write out two things that you are going through.
What does Jesus’ words in John 16:31-33 say to you?
Thanks for listening…
Today’s Prayer Focus- Lord, I trust you through the crisis in my life. I
pray that I may grow closer to you through all the troughs and peaks.
Show me how to lean on your understanding and not my own. Amen
